My May Wish-List

Happy May followers! If you’re like me, and currently reside in the Northeast; then the arrival of the month of May is indeed something to rejoice about. With the weather finally starting to corporate, I can actually begin to wear all of the items I purchased for the warmer days. For the month of May, I am really feeling the gingham trend, as well as knee-length shorts, (as seen below). I’ve never been a huge fan of the high-waisted shorts that tend to have a problem with gravity. Since I’m something of a tomboy myself, the knee-length short trend couldn’t be more perfect. I’m also a huge fan of oxfords (I currently own five pairs), and blazers, I was extremely excited when I discovered this white, boyfriend-style version from Givenchy. I really adore everything Givenvhy has been doing lately, and their attention to detail, as well as shape; really makes me adore the brand even more. For more info on what I’m wishing for this month, make sure to follow me on Twitter (@thegaietygirl), and …

Celeb Style Fave: Allison Williams

If you’ve tuned into HBO lately, you will have noticed one particular show which captures the complete essence of what it’s like to be a 20-something individual in today’s society. GIRLS is the name of the show which I’m speaking of, and I’ve been an extreme fan since it’s first episode back in 2012. It revolves around four, 20-something girls, who hopelessly try to navigate their way around love, careers, and life. The cast is sum up by the confused Hannah (Lena Dunham), free-spirited Jessa (Jemima Kirke), necrotic/adorable Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), and gorgeous Marni played by the beautiful Allison Williams. Even though Shoshanna is my favorite on the show, it’s Allison Williams who has captured my heart when it comes to her off-screen attire. Allison has been heating up the red carpet lately with her pretty/edgy ensembles. It’s this exact reason why I’ve decided to make her this week’s “Celeb Style Fave”. “She has a Brooke Shields beauty to her, but then she’s born and raised on the East Coast, so she has a kind …

Sophistication Meets Ease

As the lights go down and the music begins to play at the Tommy Hilfiger 2013 fall show, models begin waltzing down the catwalk, dressed head to toe in cozy yet sophisticated ensembles. Cable knits paired with tartan trousers and thigh high boots are among the many looks that transcended down the runway. Hilfiger, who is no stranger to the “American Pastoral” aesthetic, managed to capture the fall season into a collection that is both elegant and secure. But it wasn’t only Hilfiger who succeeded in accomplishing such an effortless look. Over at the 3.1 Phillip Lim 2013 fall show, models donned a similar yet different look as they strode down the runway in army-green coats paired with chunky, turtleneck knits and a sufficient amount of leather. It would appear that a trend is beginning to arise on the horizon and it’s one that almost every woman could manage to wrap their heads around. It is a look that I would describe as Rustic American meets Sophisticated Ease. Mass amounts of plaid, paired with chunky, …

A Classic Favorite: Gloves

A Classic Favorite: Gloves by sandrarose featuring lanvin I’ve recently been in a rut where I’ve been transported back in time to a place where class was visible everywhere you looked. Unfortunately, that time has long gone and has been replaced by something entirely different. Gloves have been a longstanding accessory that always seems to add a bit of flare. I’ll admit with complete embarrassment, whenever I wear leather gloves; I feel a bit like a motorcross racer, bad ass and tough. When the gloves come off, I turn back into a girly and bubbly mess. This particular trend was a big hit at Paris Fashion Week and for good reason. It’s a timeless classic and when worn correctly; can really make a statement. When choosing the right pair, you want to steer clear of looking like a debutant at her coming-out party. Look for pairs that are unique with a bit of attitude. I really like the red Valentino pair above with studs. Whichever pair you decide to go with, there’s no doubt you’ll …
