It’s no secret the French understand fashion extremely well. In fact, some might say they had a hand in inventing the whole thing. One place, where this is undoubtably understood, is Cannes, France. Every year, a few of Hollywood’s finest gather together, to promote some of their artfully crafted pieces of work, as what is known as The Cannes Film Festival. Just think of it as a French Academy Awards. Although the men looked just as handsome, this was clearly an event for the ladies. Everyone from couture favorite, Lupita Nyong’o to Julianne Moore, showed up ready to kick some fashion ass. I’d like to think us Americans understand fashion just as well as the next individual, but it was evident that this round went to the French. Advertisements
Check out which celebrities wore the best ensembles during last night’s MTV Movie Awards!
If you’re still reeling from all the fashion at The Oscars, I have undoubtedly great news for you. On Wednesday evening, stylista’s from Taylor Swift to Cara Delevingne gathered for the 2015 BRIT Awards in London. It is referred to as the British equivalent of the American Grammys, and is slightly more relaxed when it comes to attire. It was a star-studded event, mainly celebrating musicians from the U.K. Not mention a small Spice Girls reunion, pertaining of Melanie “Sporty” Chisholm and Emma “Baby” Bunton. Could this mean a new album is in the work ladies? One can only hope!
If you thought the Academy Awards red carpet was infused with impeccable fashion, then you clearly have a lot to learn. It’s been widely known that the best sartorial looks don’t commence until the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party. Once the show is complete, Hollywood’s finest head over to the after party, in search for a stiff drink and a generally good time. It’s during this time when actresses ditch their formalwear and opt for something a little more relaxed. After all, you can’t exactly showcase your best dance moves in a restricted ball gown. I like to think of the after party as a sartorial magic show. One moment celebrities are dressed in elaborate dresses and the next, they’re donning something more low key. It was evident that the color palate remained neutral, with white being a fan favorite. Stars such as Natalie Portman, who opted for a sleek Dior number, and Naomi Watts, who went with a Giorgio Armani pantsuit; all looked like sophisticated snow queens. Which look was your favorite?
If you tuned into last night’s 87th Academy Awards, you would have witnessed a whole lot of activity. Neil Patrick Harris sang and danced, Lady Gaga did a surprising, yet amazing tribute to The Sound of Music, and Birdman took home the “Best Picture” award. It was a night dedicated solely to “moving pictures”, as well as an impeccable amount of fabulous fashion. My favorite of the night definitely went to Jennifer Lopez, who strutted onto the stage in a princess-like Elie Saab gown. I honestly don’t know how she manages to stay looking utterly gorgeous at her age, but nevertheless, she manages. But apart from J.Lo, there were other incredible looks on last night’s red carpet. Everyone, from Cate Blanchett to Lupita Nyong’o all brought their A-game when it came to dressing the part of the glamorous Hollywood actress. So, without further delay, let’s dive right into my favorite looks of the night.
If you pay somewhat attention to the film industry, you would know that The 87th Academy Awards are this Sunday. It’s a tradition which traces back to 1929 and has lasted for eighty-six years. The host this year is Neil Patrick Harris, and the expectations are fairly high for the How I Met Your Mother actor. Of course, (in my humble opinion), no one can quite live up to his predecessor, Ellen DeGenerous; who hosted last year and provided everyone with pizza. Who does that?! Now, I’m an avid film watcher. I’ll pay the $15 bucks, including an extra $15 for popcorn and Milk Duds, (a film is not quite the same without both), all for the sake of a spectacular film experience. And no, 50 Shades of Grey does not count. But, despite my affluent adoration for films, I have to admit the main reason why I tune in for the annual Academy Awards is for the red carpet. Whether you’re like me, and tune in solely for the red carpet, or watch because you generally love the …
