Viva la mamma! Dolce & Gabbana Embrace Motherhood

Babies and fashion. Thanks to North West’s outbursts during NYFW, you would deem the two a horrible match. But leave it to Dolce & Gabbana to prove everyone wrong, including Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief, Ana Wintour.  “We took all our ideas from children—it’s about the family, and love. Fashion is important, yes—but we wanted to give something real, not just cold clothes, clothes, clothes” Stefano Gabbana was quoted saying about the heartfelt Winter 2016 collection, which premiered at Milan Fashion Week on Monday. The entire collection was infused with the signature, sexy Dolce & Gabbana aesthetic, with additional sentimental notes as well. A relative of the owner, which produces the brand’s fabrics, was kindly asked to include his own sketches, which no doubt were maximized on the silk dress his father printed for the finale. The sentimentality doesn’t end there. Both designers included childhood drawings and letters, made for their mothers, on many of the invitations. There were embroidered roses on many of the pieces, (which are traditionally appointed on Mother’s Day in Italy) and the words Amore and Mama were sewn onto dresses …

My May Wish-List

Happy May followers! If you’re like me, and currently reside in the Northeast; then the arrival of the month of May is indeed something to rejoice about. With the weather finally starting to corporate, I can actually begin to wear all of the items I purchased for the warmer days. For the month of May, I am really feeling the gingham trend, as well as knee-length shorts, (as seen below). I’ve never been a huge fan of the high-waisted shorts that tend to have a problem with gravity. Since I’m something of a tomboy myself, the knee-length short trend couldn’t be more perfect. I’m also a huge fan of oxfords (I currently own five pairs), and blazers, I was extremely excited when I discovered this white, boyfriend-style version from Givenchy. I really adore everything Givenvhy has been doing lately, and their attention to detail, as well as shape; really makes me adore the brand even more. For more info on what I’m wishing for this month, make sure to follow me on Twitter (@thegaietygirl), and …

My April Wish-List

As we get further into spring, and the temps begin to rise, I find myself gravitating more towards “pretty” clothing. As you can see from my “April Wish-List” below; there’s not a single dark color in sight. In fact, the majority of the collection is entirely in pastels. For my “April Wish-List”, I decided to go with floral’s and light colors because to me, that’s the whole representation of spring. One of my favorite items in the collection is this Emporio Armani structured tote, which I chose in turquoise. I recently took a new job as an e-commerce assistant at a luxury lingerie boutique and therefore need a bag which will fit everything from my i-Pad to my lipstick. That, apart from the totally chic design and color, was why I chose the tote. Everything pretty much speaks for itself. When I first saw this floral, Oscar de la Renta dress, I’ll admit I was a little afraid. I’m not exactly one for girly prints but the more I glanced at the dress; the more I felt …

Celebrity Style Fave: Poppy Delevingne

Celebrity Style Fave: Poppy Delevingne by sandrarose featuring jo no fui I usually find that 99% of the time, models usually have an excellent eye for fashion, thus making them style icons in the process. One of those individuals happens to be none other than Bristish model, Poppy Delevingne (big sister to infamous British model, Cara Delevingne). Her look is polished with minimalistic undertones and just a touch of boho edge. She combines refined pieces with vintage inspired items for a East coast meets West feel. The unexpected feel of her ensembles are refreshing as well as surprisingly chic. To emulate Poppy’s look try pairing bohemian inspired pieces with sophisticated and elegant ones. Pair a floral dress consisting of a low-high hem with ankle booties and a structured blazer or tailored trousers with a faux fur vest for a urban hipster feel.
