The Battle For Gender Equality

If you tuned into The Academy Awards two weeks ago, you would have witnessed a moment in the show when Boyhood’s, Patricia Arquette delivered an empowering acceptance speech pertaining to gender equality. It’s an issue which I believed was obsolete in this time and age. However, leave it to my juvenile ignorance to hinder my judgement on the matter. The fact is, woman, not only in this country, but worldwide, are amongst a battle in which we are fighting for equality in pay and respect. Earlier last week, I came across an article in The Washington Free Beacon, (yes, I read other publications besides Woman’s Wear Daily), which claimed Hilary Clinton of wage discrimination, accusing Clinton of paying a higher wage to male employees than female. The article also went on to say that Clinton paid female staffers 72 cents of every dollar she paid men during her eight year run as senator. Of course, the claim was denied by Press Secretary Nick Merrill, announcing the article to be “ridiculous”. However,  despite the denial, the article really got …
