Why Obama and Biden’s Friendship Is One To Be Admired

They are the what make the world a little more tolerable. Without them, life would be an overall dull existence. Good friends, the kind worth having, will always be around to brighten your day when you feel as though the world around you is slowly crumbling to pieces. They’re the ones who will give it to you straight, without an ounce of hesitation, and always have your back when you need a solid exterior to lean on.
One friendship which epitomizes all these characteristics, is none other than our President and Vice President, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Throughout the last eight years, the world has watched the friendship between these two evolve into something altogether special and unique. As our nation bids farewell to both individuals, let us look back on some reasons why their friendship is one to be admired and remembered for a long time to come.

1. They Aren’t Afraid To Declare Their Love For One Another
Remember the time when our President sat down and crafted a pair of friendship bracelets for himself and the Vice President? Yeah, so do we, and we couldn’t have been more inspired. Because everyone knows a friendship isn’t official until either party has created a pair of matching handmade bracelets.

2. They Exercise Together
A bromance isn’t a proper bromance until both individuals have witnessed each other in pools of sweat. Only true friends will understand the importance of having their sidekick by their side to push them a little further when it comes to hitting the gym.

3. They Support One Another Through Difficult Times

Friends don’t let each other grieve alone. When Biden’s son Beau passed away, not only was Obama there to support Biden, but he also gave a heartfelt eulogy at his funeral. What are friends for if they can’t offer you their shoulder to cry on?

4. They Congratulate Each Other
Whether it’s the passing of The Affordable Care Act or merely winning a game of golf, both individuals understand the importance of praising each other whenever the opportunity arrises. After all, a bit of encouragement goes a long way within any friendship.

5. They Occasionally Dress Alike
When you share the same sense of style with your bestie, life becomes a whole lot easier. Especially when it’s St. Patrick’s Day and you need someone who will wear a green tie with you to work. What are friends for if not to coordinate ensembles with?

6. Both Individuals Understand The Importance of A Perfect Selfie
Obtaining the perfect selfie is no easy feat. There are many elements which aide in the grueling process. When you find a friend who comprehends such a truth, you should hold on tight and never let them go.

7. They Can Be Themselves With One Another
The best friendships are the kind where you don’t have to pretend. When you allow yourself to let your guard down and simply be yourself. It would appear that these two have a solid grasp on that particular concept.

8. They Make Each Other Laugh
Friendship and laugher go hand in hand. Whenever you see Obama and Biden photographed together, a majority of the shots are of them laughing. You know you’ve found a friend for life when laughter is a consistent factor within your friendship.

9. They Do Brunch
It’s a fact commonly known that friends who brunch together, often grow old together. Okay, so I made that part up. But doesn’t it roll off the tongue so effortlessly? Besides, who else are you going to split bottomless mimosas with if not with your bestie?

10. They Understand The Value of Family
Among the many traits which made Obama and Biden so relatable is their understanding that family comes first. Throughout all the chaos which came with running a country, these two continued to put their families first.

As we move forward into a new phase, one thing is for certain. America will no doubt remember the moral and immense character these two brought to Washington. It’s a disposition not only President-Elect Trump can learn from, but something us as individuals can strive for as well.

The Derogative Goodness That Is Scream Queens

Okay, I’m a huge Ryan Murphy fan. I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve shamelessly sung along to every episode of  Glee, and feverishly watched every season of American Horror Story. Although, to be honest, Freak Show was something of a disappointment. Call me crazy, but I prefer to watch the talent that is Jessica Lange play confident and witty characters. Elsa Mars was neither.

But enough about Murphy’s prior television shows. Living in the past is, well, so last season. Let us flash forward to the present, where Murphy has created a new television series to add to his evolving list; Scream Queens. The show is quintessential Murphy, including an abundance of stereotypical characters and an endless repartee of insulting remarks, which, although we would rather not admit; are incredibly humorous.

The show, which premiered last Tuesday, takes place on a college campus, and revolves around a series of mysterious murders taking place within a sorority. The murders, occur merely two decades after a similar murder was committed within the same sorority. Now, this is isn’t your typical murder mystery series. It’s far from Pretty Little Liars. Rather than repeat the same plot mistakes most thriller series tend to commit, Scream Queens tends to mock the genre of television it falls under. It’s comedy, with a little horror thrown in.

Then there’s a shirtless Nick Jonas, who lift weights while staring at himself in the mirror, Don Jon style. Who wouldn’t want to watch that? Not to mention, there’s a killer who tends to dress in an insane devil costume, thus procuring the name, The Red Devil. But the true backbone of the show has to be Emma Roberts character, Chanel, who delivers some of the most poignant, albeit, offensive remarks, which earned her credit back on Coven.

Although it’s not up to Scandal standards, Scream Queens is good ole’ fashion, derogative television. Definitely one of my guilty pleasures this season.

The Pirelli Calendar Gets An Empowering Update!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, the Pirelli calendar, (also known as “The Cal”), is a highly-anticipated annual release, normally featuring A-list models, photographed by the most reputable photographers in the business. But all that is about to change. This year, the calendar will feature a fresh group of inspirational women, photographed by the legendary Annie Leibovitz.

The new version will include thirteen female musicians, actresses, writers, models, artists, filmmakers, finance executives and philanthropists, all picked by Leibovitz. Among the talented list, Rookie‘s Tavi Gevinson, Serena Williams, Amy Schumer, Yoko Ono, Fran Lebowitz, Patti Smith, Natalia Vodianova, Kathleen Kennedy, Yao Chen, Mellody Hobson, Ava DuVernay, Agnes Gund and Shirin Neshat.

“I started to think about the roles that women play, women who have achieved something. I wanted to make a classic set of portraits.” Leibowitz stated during an interview.

“I thought that the women should look strong but natural and I decided to keep it a very simple exercise of shooting in the studio. This calendar is so completely different. It is a departure. The idea was not to have any pretense in these pictures and be very straightforward.” she added

The 43rd edition of the Pirelli calendar will be presented at the Roundhouse in London on Nov. 30th.

Top Ten Best-Dressed at The 2015 Emmy’s

I’m an avid television watcher. When I find a great series, which not only provokes interest, but also pushes the boundaries of the norm, I tend to get a little enthusiastic. I’ve even been known to ignore the responsibilities of life, and spend the day binging on my favorite shows.

Don’t judge me. We’ve all been there.

So, it’s only appropriate that I get excited when an award show celebrates that side of the entertainment industry. Enter, The Emmy‘s; an event which does just that. Last night was the 67th Annual Emmy’s, which honored profound talent within television. Although I tuned in late the the program, I was stuck doing laundry, I was still able to witness some incredible sartorial moments. Ahem, Kerry Washington in Marc Jacobs, anyone?

With that being said, here are my top ten favorite looks from the night. Which looks made your list?

Lady Gaga’s New Music Video Shines Powerful Light on Sexual Assault

Say what you will about Lady Gaga, but at the end of the day, the songstress knows how to draw attention to a certain cause. Whether it’s regarding the LGBT community or Gender Equality, Gaga isn’t afraid to speak out. This time around, the artist is drawing awareness to sexual assault. In the recently released music video for her new song, Til It Happens To You, Gaga sent a strong message to sexual assault survivors.

The video is extremely difficult to watch-I couldn’t help myself from tearing up-but is unfortunately the raw reality of the situation. According to RAINN, (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) every 107 seconds another American is sexually assaulted, adding up to a total of 293,000 assaults per year. What’s worse, most of these assaults happen in college, with one in five women becoming victims.

Although I have never been a victim, I have close friends who have. With that being said, I’ve seen firsthand the toll it takes on someone who has been a victim to such a brutal act. It’s disgusting and can leave a person feeling insignificant. That is why it is extremely important to report the assault the moment it happens. Allowing another individual to go through the horrific experience as you is similar to witnessing a crime and not reporting it.

Rape is a criminal act and should be treated as such. No one should have to experience such an ordeal.

Punk Rock Meets Glamour at Marc Jacobs Spring 16′ RTW

Marc Jacobs is a legend.

End of post.

Kidding, of course. Not about him being a legend. About this being the end of the post. I could honestly go on and on, discussing the icon that is Marc Jacobs. But I’ll keep this post sweet and straight to the point. During the unveiling of the designer’s Spring 2106 Ready-To-Wear collection, the designer introduced some extremely interesting concepts.

Sparkly and patriotic would be my overall description of the collection. But dig a bit deeper, and one will find there’s much more. The collection combined Jacob’s quirky aesthetic, sticking with a color palate reminiscent of the American flag. Red, white, and blue dominated the runway, as models waltzed down the catwalk wearing pieces inspired by punk rock and old Hollywood glamour.

Prints were plaid, texture was glittery, and there was even the occasional, embellished letterman jacket thrown in. Odd combination, no? But sprinkle it with a bit of the ole’ Jacobs artistic talent, and somehow it all works.

Carly Fiorina Tests Donald Trumps Dominance

If you were fortunate enough to tune into last night’s Republican debate, you would have witnessed some compelling television. Honestly, I never knew politics could be so engrossing. And here I thought Real Housewives was entertaining. Anyways, enough about me and my unhealthy taste in television.

The debate started off neutral, swiftly picking up momentum, with most of the candidates introducing interesting views. However, it was Carly Fiorina who stole the show. When asked to respond about a blatantly rude comment Donald Trump had made regarding her looks, Fiorina responded with poise and elegance.

“I think women all over this country heard what Mr. Trump said” she commented, during last night’s debate.

But it was the interview Fiorina gave the following morning, which truly ignited the flame. Early on Thursday morning, Fiorina sat down with CNN News Day and explained how Trump’s emphasis on her appearance represents the sexism which is still evidently apparent in today’s American politics.

“It’s still different for women,” she said  “It’s only a woman whose appearance would be talked about while running for president — never a man. And that’s what women understand.”

It always seems to lead back to sexism. It’s as if women are continuously battling this enormous  war, revolving around gender equality.  I don’t mean to sound like a crusader, but when is this entire ordeal going to stop? We live in a world, we’re women represent a large portion of the population, and, yet, the prejudices still continue.

To be honest, I could care less if a presidential candidate is black, white, female, or male. Those details don’t resonate with me. What I truly care about is whether a candidate can do the job of creating a better place for it’s  inhabitants. Whether you’re attractive or not, it holds little value when you’re faced with such a task.

Good for you, Fiorina. Someone had speak up.
