Monochrome Get’s Fresh at Vera Wang Fall 2015 RTW

“Black, of course, is not a new story for me,”

Vera Wang, the mastermind behind the multimillion bridal empire, was heard saying backstage at her Fall 2015 RTW show. But bridal-wear isn’t the only thing the designer know’s how to create. The irony was ever-so-present during the unveiling of the collection, as models strode down the runway, in nearly all-black ensembles. But before you begin to think the designer is pulling an Alexander Wang, you might want to witness the entire collection before you jump to conclusions. Although masculinity played a huge part on the collection, that didn’t mean all femininity was lost.

Yes, almost the entire collection was black and there were apparent signs of monochrome, but there appeared to be a underline softness as well. Perhaps it was the billowy silhouettes and the barely-there makeup which accented every model’s face. Wide-neck pullovers were worn with petal-embroidered vinyl miniskirts, while sleeveless, ivory geometric minidress, featured lace and thick ribbed trimming. The overall collection was a beautiful mixture of masculine and feminine, creating a wondrous contradiction on the runway.

I am a journalistic enthusiast, born and bred in Washington, D.C. When I'm not busy meticulously constructing posts, I can be found burying my head in an epic novel, cooking a delicious mess in the kitchen, scouring local thrift stores, and spending way too much time binging on Netflix (Arrested Development anyone?). I cannot live without a good playlist (Billy Holiday is preferred), working wifi (sometimes not always working), and Dunkin Donuts coffee (caramel swirl is my go-to flavor).
