When you think of couture, does the thought of fast food oddly enter your mind? The apparent answer would be no, since the two have no business being placed together let alone uttered in the same sentence. Newly appointed Creative Director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott, would highly disagree with you. It was at the brand’s unreeling of it’s Fall 14′ RTW collection where the idea of fast food and couture unusually crossed paths.
Models strode down the runway donning McDonald’s signature colors of red and yellow as if they were the fast food chains’ very own mascots. At a quick glance, one might be a bit hesitate as to wonder what Scott was thinking. But when you take a second glance, you can’t help but come to understand the brilliance behind the collection. McDonald’s wasn’t the only pop culture sighting. Infamous cartoon favorite SpongeBob Sqaurepants was present in the collection as well. Who would have thought Spongebob and leather would make such an originally chic paring?
Lets be honest, it’s not a vision we all ponder on throughout our day. But somehow, all these factors seems to work. I mean come on, where else are you going to find a French Fries iPhone case or a chain strap purse that resembles the paper box which a McDonald’s Kids Meal is ordered in? The entire collection is an definite throwback to 90’s street wear (studded corseted leather dresses and quilted denim) combined and famous American culture. With innovation meets quirkiness, it’s safe to say I’m a bit excited to see what Scott comes up with next!
