Runway Review: Chanel Pre-Fall 2014

As the lights went down at Dallas’s Fair Park on Tuesday night, the 2014 Chanel Pre-Fall runway collection was unveiled. Celebrities including Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart, Lily Collins, and Lauren Hutton all showed up to view the collection which was nothing if not spectacular. The Métiers d’Art runway show, which is another name for the annual event, honors the 11 couture workshops that Chanel has been buying since the 80’s. The event was cleverly divided into three parts which included a “drive-in” screening of the short film, The Return, which was directed by none other than the brand’s legendary artistic director; Karl Lagerfeld.

But apart from the prior festivities which took place before the actual show began, the main story here is the collection itself. Models strode down the rodeo-inspired runway dressed head-to-toe in Western enthused ensembles, which included denim, pearl, and fringe detailing. When asked about the influences that stirred the collection, Lagerfeld stated he was inspired by Houston socialite, Lynn Wyatt. Just glancing at the collection one gets a feeling of romanticism combined with equestrian elegance. It is no secret that everything is done larger in Texas and this particular event proved to be nothing less.

I am a journalistic enthusiast, born and bred in Washington, D.C. When I'm not busy meticulously constructing posts, I can be found burying my head in an epic novel, cooking a delicious mess in the kitchen, scouring local thrift stores, and spending way too much time binging on Netflix (Arrested Development anyone?). I cannot live without a good playlist (Billy Holiday is preferred), working wifi (sometimes not always working), and Dunkin Donuts coffee (caramel swirl is my go-to flavor). If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to direct them to the email below. Happy Reading!
