Sophistication Meets Ease

Sophistication Meets Ease

As the lights go down and the music begins to play at the Tommy Hilfiger 2013 fall show, models begin waltzing down the catwalk, dressed head to toe in cozy yet sophisticated ensembles. Cable knits paired with tartan trousers and thigh high boots are among the many looks that transcended down the runway. Hilfiger, who is no stranger to the “American Pastoral” aesthetic, managed to capture the fall season into a collection that is both elegant and secure. But it wasn’t only Hilfiger who succeeded in accomplishing such an effortless look. Over at the 3.1 Phillip Lim 2013 fall show, models donned a similar yet different look as they strode down the runway in army-green coats paired with chunky, turtleneck knits and a sufficient amount of leather.

It would appear that a trend is beginning to arise on the horizon and it’s one that almost every woman could manage to wrap their heads around. It is a look that I would describe as Rustic American meets Sophisticated Ease. Mass amounts of plaid, paired with chunky, cable knit sweaters and thigh boots are needed to pull the graceful look off. To pull the look all-together, throw some gold jewelry into the mix and you’re all set!

I am a journalistic enthusiast, born and bred in Washington, D.C. When I'm not busy meticulously constructing posts, I can be found burying my head in an epic novel, cooking a delicious mess in the kitchen, scouring local thrift stores, and spending way too much time binging on Netflix (Arrested Development anyone?). I cannot live without a good playlist (Billy Holiday is preferred), working wifi (sometimes not always working), and Dunkin Donuts coffee (caramel swirl is my go-to flavor).
