Happy (belated) B-Day Solange Knowles!

Okay, so I know her b-day was actually yesterday but we’ll just pretend as if it were today. Solange Knowles (sister to Beyoncé) happens to be one of my favorite style icons. With her ever-so daring bold ensemble choices, as well as talented voice, there is no one like her in the industry today. With starlets such as Rihanna, Rita Ora and now Miley Cyrus donning “hip-hop chic” looks, Solange has chose to showcase a style that is retro with subtle notes of class and minimalism. She’s always rocking something original and new, leaving all of us fashion devotees in complete awe. So in celebration of her b-day, we’re taking a look back at some of her best and stylish looks!

Solange Knowles In this fun and playful look, Solange proves that you can pair different prints together just as long as they’re within the same color spectrum of course. The entire look is utterly refreshing from head to toe with just a bot of elegance thrown in.

Solange Knowles Back in 2012, Solange paired these bright red, tailored  shorts with a black and white Aztec blouse for Spring NYFW. She added a chunky, tribal necklace and some yellow strappy heels to complete the look. I truly adore this outfit because it’s a mixture of casualness and extent. Exceptionally gorgeous!

Solange Knowles It’s evident that Solange is a dire fan of prints. She paired this polka-dotted suit with a crisp, white blouse for the Levi’s 501 Pre-Grammy Party in L.A. She completed the look with black strappy heels and a cobalt clutch. I simply love this outfit because it’s youthful and masculine all at the same time. Love!

Solange Knowles Once again, Solange stuns in prints. She showcased this beautiful DVF periwinkle blazer and matching pencil skirt during NYFW Fall 2013. Pairing the ensemble with bright yellow pumps and a red, printed blouse, this look screams style. I love how effortless Solange appears but still maintain that state of style and elegance. Pure perfection!

Solange Knowles Here Solange rocked another printed pantsuit this time by DVF. She paired the extravagant ensemble with black heels and a cobalt, Jimmy Choo clutch. There’s really no need to say anymore about this particular look since the picture pretty much says it all.

Solange Knowles For the 2013 Essence Black Women in Music event in LA, Solange dazzled in a tribal print Ostwald Helgason minidress. She paired it with Nicholas Kirkwood heels and a gorgeous smile. This look mixes both minimalism with sprit for one, stunningly stylish look.

I am a journalistic enthusiast, born and bred in Washington, D.C. When I'm not busy meticulously constructing posts, I can be found burying my head in an epic novel, cooking a delicious mess in the kitchen, scouring local thrift stores, and spending way too much time binging on Netflix (Arrested Development anyone?). I cannot live without a good playlist (Billy Holiday is preferred), working wifi (sometimes not always working), and Dunkin Donuts coffee (caramel swirl is my go-to flavor).
