Givenchy Spring 2013 Premeire

When I was 12-years-old I saw a movie that went by the name of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The moment a well-known actress named Audrey Hepburn (you might have heard of her) stepped onto the screen wearing a little black dress, I fell in love. It wasn’t until a year later when my fashion sense fully kicked in that I discovered the designer behind the gorgeous gown that hung loosely on Audrey. The man behind the creation was non other than Hubert de Givenchy. He was a well-known player in the game of fashion along with contenders such as Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent. Mostly known for creating the “sack” dress and many dresses as well as coats for Jackie O, his work extends further than that. His creations were exquisite as well as daring. He was most definitely not afraid to push the limit when it came to designing which is something I look for in a designer. This is probably why he’s one of my favorite designers to this day. So it was no surprise that when Paris …

Emmy Faves

Every year, Hollywood gets all dressed up to go out for TV’s biggest night of the year. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then allow me to fill you in. I’m talking about the Emmy’s of course! But it isn’t who took home Best Actress in a Television Drama or who took home Best Comedy (Ahem, Modern Family anyone?) that everyone is buzzing about. It’s actually the fashion, as usual. Who had the best gown, best hair, and accessories. Well luckily for, I’m breaking it all down into pieces so you can be all caught up. Seeing as I’m probably the last person to jump on the band wagon, mainly because I’m busy with class and work therefore don’t spend my entire time blogging; I’m writing this post last-minute. Since there was simply too much fashion at the Emmy’s (yes, there is actually a thing as too much fashion), I’ve decided to list only my favorites of the night. So sit back and enjoy!

NYC Fashion Week Highlights

As NYC Fashion Week comes to a close I can’t help but feel a bit depressed. Don’t worry, I’ll recover. With some Ben and Jerry’s to guide me through what feels like a bad breakup;  I think I’ll be alright. I guess I shouldn’t fret too much, I’ll always have New York. So with that said let’s get down to the reason why we’re all here; fashion. Designers were not holding back this Fall. While some trends we’ve already predicted and seen, some were unexpected yet just as chic.  Bold colors, corsets, leather, voluminous coats, and skirt suits were included in many of the designer collections. As my eyes were locked on my laptop screen, it was kind of odd that I didn’t have an asthma attack. NOTE: I don’t even have asthma. Even though I was not able to attend NYC Fashion Week, mainly because of the fact that I’m a struggling student and can’t even afford a ticket (so sad), I was definitely there in spirit. Floating above Bryant Park watching the likes of Anna Wintour, …

Layer Up!

When I see something I love , I must have it. I’m not spoiled I’m just motivated. It goes the same for a trend. When I open up a magazine and see a look that’s dying to be emulated, the same theory goes. This just so happens to be the deal with layering. Whether it’s knits, coats, or jewelry; the look is something worth having. jewelry is actually the item I like to layer most. Mainly gold necklaces. I find the look simplistic yet stylish. I’ve always loved the idea of simplicity. Either in mens clothing or womans, dressing simplistically can sometimes be the best. Don’t get me wrong, I love trends but seeing as I work with clothes, sometimes I like to give it a break and dress simple. When pulling this look off make sure not to go overboard with the layering. The look is meant to simplistic not crazy. Above are some ways you can layer your necklaces. Just remember if you are planning on going crazy, ease up on the clothing. …

Casual Friday

Friday-one word never sounded so sweet. As soon as Monday rolls into town I’m already anticipating until Friday gets here. There’s something to be said about the day before the weekend starts. Technically my weekend starts as soon as work is out which happens to be at 4:30 every Friday. Ah yes, Fridays. Everyone is either going home to start their weekend or out on the town already starting it. I love Fridays but Fridays in D.C are even better. As I walked by the White House at 6:30, the sun was just beginning to set and the city held a post-work glow. I was going to have dinner with a friend at 8:00 so what was I to do until then? I knew just the answer, shop. Yes, I know; I have a problem but I refuse to admit it out loud. So until I come to realization with this addiction I’ll just float on by in the H&M isles. Carelessly pretending as if this was the first time I’ve been there, even though it’s probably …
